Unterstützung – Support

Today we arrived to frigid conditions in school. Since we open our windows every 20 minutes due to COVID rules, the students like our usually efficient heaters (me – I mostly don’t care; the advantage of hot flashes). However today the heaters were cold when we arrived and stayed cold. The first thought was to tell the janitor. Then our brains kicked in and we finally came to the conclusion that it is probably a measure to conserve energy. A decision due to the war Russia is waging against Ukraine.

It was cold, admittedly, but now with days getting longer it is bearable. I’ve sent a message to all learners who were absent today (lots of sick students and/or their children at the moment) to bring warm sweaters and cardigans. It’s the least we can do.

  1. That’s ok if you’ve been warned, as you did your absent students. I’d have been wearing six jumpers,a woolly hat, a scarf, boots – the lot. My days of hot flushes are long gone.

  2. My internal heater doesn’t work. I’m either cold or hot and sometimes both at the same time in different parts of my body! I didn’t know you were a teacher. Awesome! We used to have classrooms without air conditioning in CA where it got over 100 degrees on a regular basis. Very hot! I sympathize with you in your cold room!!’
