Wie wichtig es ist, Pluralformen zu lernen – The importance of learning plural forms

I have a new favourite student.

The current class is obviously still at the very beginning of learning German. They have not yet learned plural forms. Today they practiced: “I would like an apple.” and “I would like a banana.” and similar simple sentences. When it was Revis’ turn, he insisted on saying: “I want two beer(s).” Although technically correct for teaching reasons I had to insist on ONE beer. He shook his head, and then said: “I would like a beer and one more time a beer!” /

Der jetzige Kurs ist offensichtlich noch ganz am Anfang. Sie haben noch keine Pluralformen gelernt. Heute übten sie “Ich möchte einen Apfel” und “Ich möchte eine Banane” und ähnliche einfache Sätze zu sagen. Als Revis an der Reihe war, sagte er auf “Ich möchte zwei Bier.” Im Prinzip natürlich richtig, aber aus didaktischen Gründen musste ich auf EIN Bier bestehen. Er schüttelte den Kopf and sagte dann: “Ich möchte ein Bier und noch einmal ein Bier!” /
